Main Library Facilities Upgrade

We have heard the concerns of many of our patrons to improve seating, add quiet space, and improve the overall look of the library. We are meeting with furniture companies to purchase new tables, chairs and public service desks as we strive to improve study spaces, provide for collaborative meeting areas and enrich the design and functionality of the first floor.

Before we could undertake the cosmetic and design improvements, it was imperative that we evaluate the infrastructure and utilities. Increasing repair costs and obsolete components are requiring us to replace our air conditioning units with updated, energy efficient models, retrofitting our lighting fixtures and bulbs with lower energy, more comfortable LED lights, improving and updating our Fire Alarm System and installing a Building Management System to effectively control all building systems in an effort to be energy and cost
conscious. The specifications and designs for new equipment have been submitted to the New York State Education Department and we expect work to begin this summer.

We plan to remain open throughout most of the construction and will make every effort to minimize disruption to patrons as much as possible. Information regarding the progress of the project will be found on our webpage, through mass emails and notices posted throughout the building.
