“Work On Canvas”

November 29, 2015 – December 27, 2015. Artist Reception: Sunday, December 6th 2:00-4:00 pm

I begin with no preconceived ideas. I make a gesture or a block of color, then another. I repeat then I reflect. If something suggests form or movement I enhance it and go along with it. This requires confidence in the act of painting as it is spontaneous.

I have studied with three artists and from each I took something. From Steve Lampasona it was the courage to pursue my idea of what I envisioned my painting to be. Kyle Blumenthal encouraged me to try something different- new techniques, materials and products. Stan Brodsky influenced me as a beginning abstract expressionist by guiding me to gain the freedom and confidence to discover my path to abstraction.

My paintings have been in shows sponsored by Manhasset Art Association (Art in Autumn 2011, 2012, Visions 2012), Art League of Long Island (members exhibit 2012, 2013, Earth and Wind 2013), Hutchins Gallery, L.I. University (Stan Brodsky: Homage to a Master 2014), Bryant Library, Roslyn (solo show Energy 2014), South Huntington Library (Variations in Abstraction 2015).
