William Pardue

“New Paintings”

September 1, 2016 – October 26, 2016. Artist Reception: Sunday, September 11, 2:00-4:00 PM

TWilliam Pardue is familiar to most patrons of the Huntington Public Library for his many years of exhibits of his paintings. His first childhood ambition was to be an illustrator, but he was diverted into the theatre, where he spent most of his professional life, returning in the last several years to his first love – painting.

TUsually his exhibits have themes. People familiar with his work will remember his Shakespeare Series, European Travels, The Figure in the Landscape, and works based on his emotional reaction to the Amish school shootings, Paintings from the Hour of the Wolf. He also showed a lighter side, in shows such as Former Girlfriends, and Bill and Sam – a series of cartoons about his relationship with his dog.

However, this time his work has no central focus, but wanders instead over a range of themes, styles, and mediums. Each painting expresses a different idea.
