The Huntington Public Library has been part of the Candid Community, a network of libraries, community foundations and other nonprofit resource centers around the world, for over 35 years.

We offer a variety of resources on fundraising, grants, and nonprofit management. As a Candid Community partner, we provide free onsite access at our Main Branch location to the Foundation Directory Online and GuideStar databases.

If you have questions or want to learn the basics of searching these databases, please contact Suzy Bloom at 631-427-5165, x 256 or email suzy_bloom@huntlib.org for an appointment or additional assistance.

The Foundation Directory helps nonprofits and individuals find and connect with funders.  This database consists of over 240,000 grantmaker profiles with grant and recipient information for 501(c)(3) organizations searching for funding. It also provides individual grantseekers with scholarship, grant and fellowship information.

(In Library Use Only)

GuideStar provides data on over 2 million nonprofit organizations. It is a useful resource to research local nonprofits to support and to find services. A free account provides limited access to the database. Full access to GuideStar is available at the library.

Guidestar consists of over 2.6 million profiles of nonprofit organizations including 1.9 million 501(c)(3) entities. It includes both funder and recipient organizations with information such as the group's mission, programs, finances and staff and board members. A free account provides
limited access to the database. Full access to Guidestar is available at the library.
